Fonterra is a multinational dairy co-operative owned by more than ten thousand families and farmers. The dairy giant aimed to consolidate its New Zealand workforce and relocate to a new purpose-built building near Auckland’s waterfront. The company’s environmentally conscious and sustainable approach to business was a priority in the design.
Hydro Construction Products worked with Fletcher Building and Goodman Property to deliver this multi-building development. Every care was taken to help the Fonterra Headquarters achieve a 5-Star New Zealand Green Building Council rating. The Fonterra Headquarters now supports more than 1,500 staff.
With Fonterra’s values of environment and sustainability at the forefront of the headquarters design, Hydro Construction Products was a natural choice for drainage solutions. More than 200 metres of Hydro Stainless was used in this project. It can be found along the streetscape and within the building itself.
Hydro Stainless has a low environmental impact, is long-lasting, and can stand up to the rigors of Auckland’s coastal environment. In particular, Hydro stainless steel was chosen as it is a sustainable product. It is 100% recyclable, as it is not coated in with any toxic material it does not produce toxic run-off. We believe embracing sustainability in the built environment is good for both the people and the planet.
